Parkinson's Care
Parkinson's Disease is a progressive condition caused by the death of nerve cells in pat of the brain called the substantia nigra. When these cells die they can no longer transmit the chemical dopamine, which controls the body's movement.
Problems with mobility, speech and coordination are common, circulation, swallowing and other problems following as the disease progresses. Psychiatric problems can also develop like depression and dementia.
Our approach is to develop individual support plans tailored to meet a persons needs, thus enabling them to live as independently and as safely as possible.
We provide 30-minute care visits to full 24 hour support by carers who are competently Parkinson’s trained and have an awareness to support a client with speech impairment and loss of mobility.
We regularly liaise with other health professionals such as, Orthopedic Technicians, Physiotherapists, District Nurses and GPs and provide support to family members with respite cover and moving and handling techniques.
